He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
