The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 for a great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 upon couches gazing; 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
