A Sign for them is the earth that is dead: We do give it life, and produce grain therefrom, of which ye do eat. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 so that they may consume the fruits and whatever their hands prepare. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created all the sexual pairs, of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves, and of that which they know not! 36 And a Sign for them is the Night: We withdraw therefrom the Day, and behold they are plunged in darkness; 37 And the sun runs its course for its final destination; this is a command of the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; 39 The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outpace the day: each floats in [its own] orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We lodged them in a laden ship, while they were in their forefathers backs. 41 And We have created for them similar ships, in which they now ride. 42 And if We will, We can drown them, so there would be no help in their distress, nor would they be saved. 43 unless it be a mercy from us, and as an enjoyment for a season. 44 And when it is said to them, 'Fear what is before you and what is behind you; haply you will find mercy' -- 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said to them: 'Spend of that which Allah has given you' the unbelievers say to the believers: 'Are we to feed those whom Allah can feed if He chooses? Surely, you are only in clear error' 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They must be waiting for but one single blast, which will overtake them while they are still disputing. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
