Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
