S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they called, but time was none to escape. 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 and Thamood, and the people of Lot, and the men of the Thicket - those were the parties; 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
