Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
