Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 Thus, [it will come to pass] when the stars are effaced, 8 And when the sky is riven asunder, 9 and the mountains scattered, 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 For which day were they appointed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Woe on that day unto the beliers 15 Did We not destroy the earlier people? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 Thus do We deal with the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.)! 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from a worthless water (semen, etc.)? 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 For the living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 "Neither shading, nor of any use against the fierce flame of the Fire." 31 Verily it shall cast forth sparks like unto a castle. 32 So like golden camels." 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision; We have gathered you and all the earlier men. 38 If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me. 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
