The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
