The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and gently take it away; 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
