The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
