The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
