The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
