Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
