The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then he mustered 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
