The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
