In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
