The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
