Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a party of the jinn listened, and they said: Surely we have heard a wonderful Quran, 1 that guides to the Right Path. We believe in it and we will not associate anyone with our Lord. 2 He exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, who has neither taken to Himself a wife, nor a son! 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one. 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.). 11 "'And withal, we have come to know that we can never elude God [while we live] on earth, and that we can never elude Him by escaping [from life]. 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 Some of us are obedient while others are wrongdoers; it is the obedient who have found the right path, 14 but as for those who have deviated, they have become firewood for Gehenna!"' 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 "That We might try them by that (means). But if any turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to undergo a severe Penalty. 17 And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah. 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
