The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
