We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Do We consider the righteously striving believers equal to the evil-doers in the land? Are the pious ones equal to those who openly commit sin? 28 (This is) a Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember. 29 To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)! 30 Behold, there were brought before him, at eventide coursers of the highest breeding, and swift of foot; 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 "Bring them back to me." then began he to pass his hand over (their) legs and their necks. 33 We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God 34 He said: My Lord! do Thou forgive me and grant me a kingdom which is not fit for (being inherited by) anyone after me; 35 So we subjugated the wind to his service which carried his merchandise wheresoever he wished; 36 and the satans, every builder and diver 37 The rest of the devils were bound in chains. 38 'This is Our gift, give or withhold without reckoning' 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
