And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 for an appointed time." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
