And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
