(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 "And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?" 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens, and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord - only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
