Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 And the satans have not brought it down. 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
