The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame 4 [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, 9 We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. 22
