The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 then he mustered 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
