The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 For a mighty day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
