The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
