Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
