A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 A Book revealed to you-- so let there be no straitness in your breast on account of it-- that you may warn thereby, and a reminder close to the believers. 2 Follow that which is sent down toward you from your Lord, and follow not any patrons beside Him; yet little ye are admonished. 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong." 5 So undoubtedly We shall question those to whom Our Noble Messengers went, and indeed We shall question the Noble Messengers. 6 So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. 7 On that Day, the weighing is true. He whose scales are heavy those are the prosperers, 8 and those whose good deeds are light [in the balance] will be the ones who have lost themselves because they wrongfully rejected Our signs. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
