۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 Abraham asked his father and his people, "What are these statues which you worship?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some of them said, "We heard a youth called Abraham speaking against the idols". 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 But We said, "Fire! Be cool and a means of safety for Abraham." 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
