The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
