The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
