Nay! By the moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
