The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
