The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a written book, 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
