Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
