The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Certainly We have created man to be in distress. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
