For, behold, it is the God-conscious [alone] whom gardens of bliss await with their Sustainer: 34 What! shall We then make (that is, treat) those who submit as the guilty? 35 What has come upon you that you judge in such a wise? 36 Or have you a book wherein you read, 37 that you will be granted whatever you choose? 38 Do you have a covenant with Us which allows you to do whatever you want until the Day of Judgment? 39 Ask thou of them, which of them will stand surety for that! 40 Or have they other partners [besides God]? Let them bring forth their other partners, if what they say be true. 41 On the Day when the leg shall be bared, and they are ordered to prostrate themselves, they will be unable. 42 Their eyes will be cast down, ignominy will cover them; they used to be called to prostrate (offer prayers), while they were healthy and good (in the life of the world, but they did not). 43 Then leave Me Alone with such as belie this Quran. We shall punish them gradually from directions they perceive not. 44 I shall give them respite, however, My plan is so strong that they will never be able to escape from it. 45 Or do you ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 46 Or that they possess the hidden, so they are writing it? 47 Exercise patience until the promise of your Lord (to punish the unbelievers) comes true. Do not be like Jonah (who left his people without the permission of God; he wanted them to be punished immediately), 48 Were it not that favor from his Lord had overtaken him, he would certainly have been cast down upon the naked Found while he was blamed. 49 But his Lord exalted him, and included him among His righteous servants. 50 And indeed the disbelievers seem as if they would topple you with their evil gaze when they hear the Qur’an, and they say, “He is indeed insane.” 51 But it is nothing else than a Reminder to all the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 52
