۞ And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud. 57 And say: "Are our aliha (gods) better or is he ['Iesa (Jesus)]?" They quoted not the above example except for argument. Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people. [(See VV. 21:97-101) - The Quran.] 58 (Jesus) was only a creature whom We favoured and made an example for the children of Israel. 59 And if We please, We could make among you angels to be successors in the land. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 And let not the Shaitan prevent you; surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when Eisa came to them with clear signs, he said, “I have come to you with wisdom, and to explain to you some of the matters regarding which you dispute; therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 63 Verily Allah! He is my lord and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path. 64 But factions from among those [who came after Jesus] began to hold divergent views: woe, then, unto those who are bent on evildoing - [woe] for the suffering [that will befall them] on a grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
