The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
