(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
