Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 instead of your wives, whom your Lord has created specially for you? You are a transgressing people." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
