Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 and the sun and the moon are joined together, 9 on that Day will man exclaim "Whither to flee?" 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
