The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
