A multitude of those of old 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 And those on the left how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 and under the shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 Such will be their welcome on Judgment Day! 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Just consider (the semen) that you emit, 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have you considered what you sow? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 (And say:) "We have fallen into debt; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
