The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
