The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
