The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
