The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 until he was two bows' length away, or nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
